About this artwork

A montage of vintage photos inspired this work. Before painting, I added gold leaf to the canvas. A mixture of orange and yellow ochre became the underpainting. In some areas thick impasto paint was applied. In other areas a thinner layer is painted leaving the gold leaf and orange to peak through. The sides are painted to match the front so it is ready to hang and needs no frame. This canvas was really fun to paint.
