About this artwork

Two adjoining East Village institutions, Milon and Panna II on First Avenue, fill the scene with competing neon lights and hanging decorations. A group of women gathers on the entry stairs, dressed for a night out and caught mid-conversation. More people wait along the lower right, as the street continues to move around them. The restaurants' famous cluster of lights and ornaments contrasts with the quiet brick facade rising above.
