About this artwork

In this painting, I wanted to further my explorations of interiors in dramatic lighting and the look of folds on unmade beds, explains artist Onelio Marrero. The woman in the room is nearly silhouetted in the window frame during her morning contemplation of the day ahead. I painted the sheets in vivid broken colors with painterly brushstrokes reminiscent of John Singer Sargent's treatment of white drapery.
