About this artwork

With this piece, my hope was to explore how the depiction of the human figure can be altered in order to express an emotion; turning the physical into the symbolic. In this case, the emotion I tackled was the feeling of wanting something but not being able to give all of yourself to it, whether it's time, tiredness, or weariness that holds you back. The swirling lines of the forms contrast with the stationary pose of the figure, suggestive of the stirring anxieties that can come from feeling stuck.
