About this artwork

This painting shows a sunset over the active oil fields just off the coast of the University of California at Santa Barbara. The sun, rendered in thick impasto, traces a glittering slick directly over Platform Holly and across the water before abruptly ending in the oily darkness of the brooding foreground cliffs. The edges of this painting are not finished. The painting is wired for hanging.
