About this artwork

This is one in a series of paintings I have executed over the years exploring ponds, waterlilies, koi and goldfish. Koi and Goldfish can be skittish but they seem to associate looming shadows of humans overhead with feeding time. Whenever, I approach my own or neighbors' ponds the fish begin to circle and disturb the water surface looking for food. The ripples and bubbles that distort the reflections of sky and foiliage add to my delight as I watch these magnificent creatures.
