About this artwork

A woman lies on her side, with her face obscured. Light spills over her from an unseen window, casting deep, warm shadows and cool highlights on her body. The composition creates peaks and valleys, forming an undulating wave-like effect. The mystery of her hidden identity suggests melancholy, contrasting with the sensual folds of her figure framed by luminous cloth. This painting is part of artist John Kelly's nude series featuring his long-time friend and model, Ninon.
