About this artwork

Crossing towards Central Park East in New York City, I was smitten by the dappled sunlight on Fifth Avenue. I was headed towards the path that leads to the Plaza. It's always a pleasure to stroll its cobbled sidewalk and visit the kiosks. In this case, I was headed towards the book seller's tables looking for some new treasures when I was overwhelmed by the sunlight and the patterns on the street. I wanted to convey the sense of movement in the sun dappled foreground.
