North of Los Angeles and its technicolor sprawl of right angles and hard edges, Big Sur uncoils along California's Central Coast. This boundary between water, land and air is contested from moment to moment, resulting in a completely different palette and experience. A case in point is this scene along the beach in Carmel, where low slung clouds filter the light of sunset, diffusing across the beach and enhancing a sense of lightness at the close of day.
