Bosque Autumn
About this artwork
This painting was based on a reference photo Tara took at the Bosque del Apache Wildlife refuge in New Mexico. It was October, and the afternoon light set the trees glowing against the cobalt sky, Tara remembers. The wetland is famous for many species of birds, so I added a little hummingbird into the landscape and painted the trees in thick, gestural brushstrokes. The painting features a high gloss glaze, making the rich colors appear wet and giving the surface an enamel-like finish.
