About this artwork

In the last moments of the day, when the sun has just vanished behind the Rocky Mountains, the quality of the light around you changes. Subtle colors arise from a familiar landscape, colors that you can't see at any other time. This painting was inspired by looking out across the emerging city lights of Boulder, Colorado at twilight, in those fleeting moments between day and night. I created Autumn Descends using archival-grade oil paint and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, 1.5 inch deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
