About this artwork

James had chosen a favorite motif here with his view of patterns of landscape through trees. The mark making is expressive and the overall color scheme really works as contemporary Impressionism. “I enjoy using the prismatic palette in my work. This palette was taught in French schools before being taught at the Art Students League in NY for the last 75 years”, James tells us.
