About this artwork
The surface of the bar in this San Francisco Mission district restaurant fills the bottom of the composition of this painting, so that the viewer feels they really are there. I found the combination of cool refrigerated and warm, perhaps candle light so pleasing. Most of all, I loved that there were metal and glass stars set into the bar: simple and graphic, a glamorous but slightly cowboy touch that to me spells hospitality.
