About this artwork
Fresh off my easel: Moondance Eight, 16x12 stretched canvas, edges painted a neutral grey, wired to hang. I'm having a marvelous time with my moondance series. And while it's really fun to work small (that's how I learn!)....now it's time to paint a bit bigger. I've developed a rather interesting process: I stain the canvas first with washes of bright intense liquid watercolors, tilting, spraying, letting the color run every which way. What a mess! When dry, I apply a transparent acrylic glaze -- crinkled with wax paper(!) -- to achieve abstract textures. The acrylic randomly melts some of the watercolor ... and then the moon shows up!
