About this artwork

Vintage kimono fabrics found in Japan carefully cut and arranged into a new composition. The process gives new life to old and no longer used things, says Tomo. Part of her signature series of collage work created with a technique she calls 'canvas mosaic.' Developed over the last ten years, Tomo cuts fabric and then meticulously adheres each piece to stretched canvas. She draws inspiration from traditional mosaic making.
