About this artwork

Artist Shari Lyon displays a contemporary image of the earth and its colorful stripes of the past. Silhouettes of trees grow from the multicolored layers of ground. As an encaustic artist, I love to paint with beeswax and a torch, says Shari. She creates the piece through a series of layering and building colors to achieve an ethereal glowing quality. Delicate accents of metallic paint complete the composition.
