About this artwork

I have always admired the work of Bonnard and his influence from Chardin, of painting the ordinary object and using it as a compositional device. I treated the cradled panel with a collage of 1906 Harper's Bazaar page pieces followed by beeswax strengthened with damar crystals. The surface can be buffed to a high sheen.
