About this artwork
I stretched linen over a home made cradled panel. This gives the encaustic beeswax and oil paints something to grip onto. The beeswax provides a deep lustrous vehicle for the fine oil pigments. This all happens under the heat of a blow torch. The subject matter is personal to me, trees I see on the mountain pass when I visit my son and his wife. It's a connection to fun times. I painted the edges black and it's wired for hanging.
