About this artwork

I stretched linen over a home made cradled birch panel. This gives the encaustic beeswax and oil paints something to grip onto. The beeswax provides a deep lustrous vehicle for the fine oil pigments. This all happens under the heat of a blow torch. I am trying to convey with different combinations of color the feeling of being submerged in nature. Edges are black and it's wired for hanging.
