About this artwork

Layers upon layers of semi-transparent encaustic wax are placed liberally and expressively onto cradled birch panel. Each layer is covered in expressive loose marks made with either oil bar, or a grattage type of scraping, revealing imagery and textures underneath swipes of both neutral and colored wax. A lone figure stands among multiple drawing and painted elements, such as repeated lines and drips, proud and finding strength for more hopeful days.
