“I started by building a cradled birch panel, covering it with antique collage materials, then coated the panel with molten beeswax. The painting is then done on this surface and fused into the wax with heat”, James tells us of his technique that he developed. This bright encaustic painting has intriguing areas where the collage peeks through.
