About this artwork

A hive of bees busy themselves against a rich abstract background. Shannon says this painting is intended to show a love and appreciation for pollinators. She used a hexagon shapedbirch wood panel and mixed natural mica and 24K gold leaf with the encaustic. The background is made up of a mix of vintage ephemeral materials including old book pages, maps, and letters.
