About this artwork

Artist Robert Hofherr presents an expressionist landscape of autumnal woodlands. Influenced by Matisse, this bold and emphatic rendition of a rocky autumn forest uses a high-key palette and energetic brushwork to make a visual statement. "Visual tension is enhanced by the large areas of warm versus cool," shares Robert. He paints the solid horizontal bias of the canvas against the vertical trees and rock formations in the center.
