About this artwork

I was probably channeling Cezanne in this work, with its fairly uniform diagonal brushstrokes and minimal detail. The composition's tension comes from the vertical trees balanced against two opposing diagonal elements, the path and the long purple shadows on the ground. The sides are painted brown, and it comes ready to hang.
