About this artwork

Definitely a statement work, this piece is the result of an appreciation of the landscapes of van Gogh, especially in his manner of paint handling and use of color. The composition is fairly traditional, and is dominated by the large trees in the upper left, which cast strong shadows below and help to visually frame the house in the background. The colors are intense but in keeping with those of a bright summer day. The sides are painted brown, and the gallery-wrapped canvas comes ready to hang.
