About this artwork

The fall colors of the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado are rich with earth tones, says artist Heather Foster. One of my favorite road trips takes me through this valley in the southern Rockies with mountains reaching 14000 feet high in the distance. There are often herds of cattle grazing and fields of hay, harvested and rolled, sometimes stacked, and sometimes left in lines across the fields. The fence lines create a geometric linear element in the foreground against the loosely painted mountains in the distance.
