About this artwork

Artist Robert Hofherr presents an expressionist outlook of a river in a densely verdant forest. Large rocks in a tree-lined stream are the basis for this unusual work, says Robert. He treats the boulders as the only solid elements in the composition, approaching the remainder of the painting in a stylized, almost pointillist fashion. This solution suggests the many leaves, branches, and flickering light. Robert points out that the color palette is intriguing without being too representational.
