About this artwork
This piece is inspired by the many rabbits roaming the artist's neighborhood on summer nights. The artist would often be reminded of the Velveteen Rabbit on her summer evening jogs. At the end of the story, the once stuffed rabbit becomes real and is able to frolic in the landscape with the other rabbits. The bunny portrayed in the piece teeters between seeming real and stuffed. The figure's cool brown gently contrasts the warm black of the night sky.
