About this artwork
Abstract Painting 4 has a simpler underlying process and structure contrasting with a large blue irregular area. It consists of six layers of phthalocyanine blue, with heavy impasto and opacity in the center of the figure. I trace this back to Helen Frankenthaler's color field paintings. The painting is varnished, framed, and wired to hang.
