Artist Statement
Painting ignites my emotions, triggers my instincts and gives free rein to my imagination, to create an exclusive Art, with a very personal and distinctive style, that has the magical power of inspiring, provoking and healing wounded souls. Using wisely such primitive elements as pencils, brushes, paint and canvas, I create colorful shapes and symbols that cheer the viewers´ souls and set in motion their most fantastic dreams.
In my visionary and evocative work, the spectators will discover unexplored worlds and unique visions. I want them to feel free, comfortable and relaxed while enjoying them, letting their imagination and instincts run wild through unexpected universes full of magic, fantasy and spirituality. My paintings take the spectators back to the most primitive worlds; they show them never-before-seen inhabitants; they put them in touch with unconquered cultures. In those moments of pure contemplation of my paintings, I want the viewers to feel alive, because my paintings have the capacity to nourish their spirit with those faces in the middle of their labyrinth of branches, roots, foliage, trees, forests, flowers and fruits, in spite of being in an urban city. And my paintings also invite the spectators to search into their inner world and to deeply meditate, trying to decipher the emotions, feelings and concepts that are behind color contrasts, intricate symbols and shapes in motion. On the other side, my paintings provide me with many reasons to feel myself fully rewarded as a contemporary artist.
When creating Art, I establish a spiritual connection with Nature, following patterns of Surrealist and Abstract art, and sometimes Psychedelic art. Nature beauties and the close relationship between flora, faura and man are my main source of inspiration. I am 63 years old, but I am still a dreamy, imaginative, very spiritual artist full of creative energies, always motivated to take on new challenges and innovative experiences. My paintings allow me to confirm many theoretical and practical knowledge acquired throughout my life while showing the influence of outstanding visual artists, such as Manuel Mendive, Wifredo Lam, René Portocarrero, René Magritte and Salvador DalÃ. You may identify part of their legacy in my work.
I establish a very sentimental relationship with my paintings; I love them as I love my family. They definitely reinforce my conviction that we both, artist and works, are part of the same identity, of the same essence; that we belong to each other. My visionary future as an artist: I see myself surrounded by art lovers, art enthusiasts, specialized journalists and gallery personnel interested in receiving my own version of my paintings, and enjoying a lot watching them. I also dream of having my own gallery.
