Tiffany Blaise | Artist Profile Photo
Tiffany Blaise
Vancouver, Canada
Artist Tiffany Blaise draws inspiration from the breathtaking natural wonders of British Columbia and her adventures abroad. She translates her fascination with emotionally charged scenes into bold and dramatic paintings. In her artistic process, Tiffany captures nature's essence by taking photos, immersing herself in the surroundings, and keenly observing the light. This allows her to convey mood, feeling, and gestures within her compositions. During a residency in a national park near Sydney, she experienced a defining moment when she realized her deep passion for painting the wilderness. “Since then, I have not been able to stop sourcing my imagery from hikes and adventures,” says Tiffany. In her East Vancouver studio, she surrounds herself with music and podcasts, creating a focused atmosphere while working on her pieces. Beyond art, she indulges in her passion for cooking and plans her next outdoor adventure, fueling her love for travel and exploration.

Artist Statement

My work's bold and dramatic nature is translated through my fascination with capturing emotionally charged landscapes. In my artistic practice, I explore the themes of movement, introspection, and transformation. My subjects range from minimal landscapes to monumental waves. Opaque oil paint and cold wax are blended, moved, and sculpted on the surface of the artworks with an impasto technique to capture my own consciousness as well as the mood of a scene. This notion of creating poetic landscapes is inspired by Cezanne's works and his idea that A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.
