Nuno Aparício
Guarda, Portugal
Artist Nuno Aparício creates hyperrealistic paintings that examine the relationship between the human body, matter, and perception. He developed his visual language through years of dedication and a strong interest in how realism can express deeper emotional and sensory ideas. “I am interested in transforming technical precision into a contemplative experience,” says Nuno. From an early age, he felt drawn to art, and mentors encouraged him to continue this path. Over time, Nuno refined his artistic voice through experimentation, dedication, and persistence. He works in a purpose-built studio designed for painting and photography. Even in his spare time, Nuno continues thinking about new ideas and themes for his upcoming projects.
Artist Statement
My work develops within the field of hyperrealistic painting in acrylic on canvas, exploring the relationship between the human body, matter, and perception.
Portraits and fragments of skin frequently appear enveloped by elements such as foam and water, creating a tension between sharpness and dissolution, presence and fragility.
I am interested in transforming technical precision into a contemplative experience. Through a slow and meticulous process, I aim to decelerate the viewer’s gaze and create silent images, where realism functions as an entry point to a more emotional and sensory dimension.
Foam, a recurring element in my recent work, symbolizes the transience and instability of the image, contrasting with the permanence of painting. My goal is to build a recognizable visual language in which hyperrealism ceases to be merely technical virtuosity and instead becomes a poetic means of reflecting on identity, memory, and perception.
