Leticia Lacy
Burbank, California
Artist Leticia Lacy reimagines vintage nostalgia through a modern, female perspective. Her figurative compositions explore risk, resilience, and transformation. Before turning full-time to painting, she worked as a color designer and art director for some of animation’s most iconic shows, including Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and The Powerpuff Girls. "I spent over 20 years making well-known animated TV shows, and that experience has pushed my work to be bold in color, composition, and conveying a story or feeling," says Leticia. She works in an art space inside Cope Studios in Glendale, California, where palm trees visible from her window often find their way into her paintings. When not making art, Leticia spends time with her husband, two children, and a lively mix of pets: a dog, a bearded dragon, a crested gecko, and a tortoise.

Artist Statement
I dive into story, color, and the unknown. Born in Los Angeles and trained at UC Santa Barbara, I bring a rich visual storytelling background to my fine art practice. Before painting full-time, I worked as a color designer and art director for some of animation’s most iconic shows—including Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and The Powerpuff Girls.
Today, I channel that same narrative instinct into contemporary figurative work that explores risk, resilience, and transformation—often through the lens of a single swimmer. My ongoing series features women poised between moments: diving from clouds, floating midair, or gazing toward new horizons. With vivid palettes and cinematic framing, I merge California cool with quiet emotional depth. The result is vintage nostalgia reimagined through a modern, female perspective—balancing bold color with softness, and motion with stillness.
In 2024 alone, my work was collected and exhibited across the country, with shows in Austin, Palm Beach, Dallas, and Santa Fe. In California, my paintings have been included in group exhibitions from San Francisco to Palm Springs.
A signature element of my practice is my use of circular compositions—portals that open onto another place and time. I paint with both intention and instinct. My work doesn’t just tell a story—it invites the viewer to leap.
