Andrea Doss
Paris, Texas
Artist Andrea Doss paints whimsical scenes inspired by storybooks and fairy tales. Her artwork personifies animal friendships and adventures, with each composition carrying its own narrative. “I love to add magic to my paintings and let the viewer decide what that story is,” says Andrea. She grew up reading illustrated books and dreamed of becoming a writer. Andrea studied English and art in college, which reinforces her passion for visual storytelling. She lives in Texas and works from her home, always closely supervised by her cat. When not making art, Andrea spends her time baking bread, gardening, and writing poetry.
Artist Statement
Using acrylic paint on canvas is my main medium as I strive to capture the essence of a storybook. I create simple yet loveable characters brimming with expression and adventure. Each artwork is accompanied by its own narrative, like a page torn from a book.
I discovered that my paintbrush held stories, and I've been bringing them to life in my art ever since. In college, I studied English and art, deciding to make my passion a lifelong pursuit: creating storybook art for children.
