Since childhood I have enjoyed making pictures. The world I see every day is filled with delights. Objects often seem mysterious in some indefinable way. The interplay of object, color and light so fascinate me that I feel compelled to make pictures out of what I see. The objects I depict have their own special beauty. Then using the illusion of three dimensional form I try to create a composition which will have its own particular beauty.
I am also fascinated and inspired by historic art and often make reference to great artists in my paintings. Still life and portrait paintings of Renaissance, Baroque and Modern Art are special sources of inspiration. As my art develops I intend to continue making reference to historic art in my work, thus bringing past and present together and encouraging the viewer to see that art is the enduring expression of our shared human experience.
My paintings are made with acrylic paint on canvas or archival paper.
