    Artist Statement

The female form is a central and recurring theme in my work. I strive to create engaging and emotional paintings that depict more expansive expressions of the stories we attach to beauty. This awareness is rooted in my work as a psychotherapist and my artwork has become my medium for creating new body narratives. I feel moved when people respond to my paintings by embracing positive stories about themselves and the body. My attention to the figure is rivaled only by my passion for color. My relationship with color activates visceral sensations in my body. Sometimes these experiences energize me. Other times they may calm me. The painting process provides me with personal healing; many of the works feel like emotional self portraits from a very deep place.
