I have been interested in art since childhood. Following art school, I spent over 30 years as an advertising/graphic design professional. Recently, I was able to begin painting again in earnest. My work consists of landscapes and still life in acrylic. I like art that makes a strong statement, and these paintings reflect this with bold colors and spontaneous brushwork. I prefer landscape at the present because an actual place becomes the starting point for artistic exploration and imagination. Artists whose work I especially admire include Maurice de Vlaminck, Andre Derain, Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Grace Hartigan, George Bellows, Wolf Kahn, Raoul Dufy, Henry Matisse, and John Constable. I hope to connect my work with a wider audience and see if a market exists for it. I plan to continue painting and see it as an important part of my life for years to come.
