My artwork is about re-creation. My imagery is informed by the world around me, and from this I make something new. My process is about discovery. I work directly and intuitively, with imagery emerging from vigorously drawn lines, often partially erased or whited out and redrawn or collaged. My work has a strong interest in surface qualities and touch, using a variety of media – charcoal, pastel, gouache, tempera – on a variety of surfaces, onto which, applying historical picture-making standards and using every day materials, I draw or compile assemblages.
