Pat Forbes is an abstract painter whose aesthetic is heavily influenced by her 20 years as a collector and dealer of Middle Eastern textiles. Pat, who lives on the west coast of Florida, uses a neutral palette to present her interpretation of the world around her– from marshes and mountains to stones and spiderwebs. She is drawn to pattern and design, both of which influence the use of balanced repetition in her work. Pat’s muted colors invite pensive meditation, while her deliberate use of line guides the eye through satisfyingly symmetrical compositions.

				Artist Statement
Inspiration for my paintings springs from the world I see around me. Landscapes, large and small, engage me. Marshes, beaches, tidal flats, city streets, summer gardens, mountain vistas, seashells, stones, and spider webs, all with their seemingly random designs, reflect the constant that informs my work.
I paint the feelings and moods a landscape evokes in me. My medium is primarily acrylics, and sometimes found objects that provide texture and complexity. I love the acrylic medium because I can touch it. I believe touch is an important and underused way we can experience art.
