Artist
Martha Ketterer Moss Beach, California

Fine art photographer Martha Ketterer illustrates the passage of time in her dramatic panoramic seascape photographs. Her experience in documentary photography adds a layer of complexity and timing to her work. She understands how to capture perspectives that develop a deeper awareness of her subject. Martha's work emphasizes one scene and one location over a multi-panel story. "Water is the essence of time. The sea is always moving and changing," says Martha, "that alone compels me to capture its story with accuracy." Martha has always lived near the ocean and is now only a few steps away from the beach in San Mateo, California. She enjoys spending her free time swimming, hiking, and traveling.

    Artist Statement

I am a fine art photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area. For me, photography is a visual language, the art of storytelling. Most of the stories reflect the nature of growing up and living along the coastal edges of California. The element of water is a central character whether it be still and clear like a mirror, or multi-textured like the wind on the sea. The many natures of water are woven through our lives and hence the stories of the way we live and thrive.
