Kristine Kainer Georgetown, Texas

For Kristine Kainer, recreating her emotional attachments to subject matter, whether a still-life or landscape, is paramount. Her goal is to emotionally trigger a response in the viewer. But, "this response does not need to replicate my own feelings; instead, I hope to make the viewer pause for a moment, reflect upon, then respond to my work in a personal, meaningful way."

    Artist Statement

My colorful paintings seek to connect us with ordinary subjects in an extraordinary fashion. Whether food, seashells, or a tattered baseball, my artistic renderings use bold strokes with ethereal backgrounds. Often I use my fingertips as brushes (who said finger painting is just for children?). This gives my art an atmospheric, dreamlike quality and I enjoy using this tactile approach to literally connect myself with my work.

Thank you for "introducing" me to Bellamy Murphy, Malie! What refreshing work she does (and right up my alley regarding the love of the water). Your comparison is greatly appreciated!

: ) Your work reminds me a little of what I've seen of Bellamy Murphy's work-she has some great pieces too. Both of you are very talented!!
