Artist Jerome Cholet brings together the aesthetics of Pop Art, fashion and social media in his contemporary portraits. "I just love the diversity our world offers, which I reflect in my art," says Jerome. "For me there is no naive art or fine arts, for me there is art that moves people - or doesn't." In high school he studied in Versailles close to Paris, and then did a tour of social service in the Amazon in Brazil working with malnutritioned children. Later, he spent three years as a journalist in South Africa. Today, Jerome's apartment is full of Amazon clay sculptures, wooden sculptures from Africa and big pictures from an emerging Botswanan artist, which he fondly regards for inspiration. He maintains a small studio in his home brimming with supplies and reference material. In his day job, he works as a communications director for an advertising agency.

About The Artist
I mostly do collages. Collaging means to me to digest reality, to separate things or bring them back together. I use collage techniques to reduce complexity, to unite contradictions.
I recycle materials, as there is already enough substance in this world. I mostly use printed photos or pages from fashion magazines, newspapers as well as screenshots from social media to give them some more space, to fix moments, pictures.
I am interested in topics such as beauty, aging, as well as politics and life.
I get inspired by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, James Rosenquist and other Pop-Art artists as well as cubists like Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, as I share their philosophy of making art available for everybody, reproducing beautiful people we can admire and dream about. Art as escapism.
My intention is to bring more orientation to the world, more beauty, moments to stand still, breathe and share. Especially in our accelerated ephemeral times.
Further I am fascinated by big panorama collages, I would love to create a whole facade of a skyscraper.
