Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.

About The Artist
As a child I was always mesmerized by the beauty of the cherry blossoms in my grandfather’s backyard. Each flower caught my attention and each falling petal in the wind fired my imagination. The blossoms created a fantasy world of magic for me. When painting the blossoms as an adult I try to find that magical feeling I experienced so long ago and capture it on the canvas.
I find my subject matter is a great help to get my artistic juices flowing....always trying new techniques and styles helps me grow as an artist...looking constantly at my surroundings, other artists for inspiration, going to museums. Looking at photography and using that as a source.....
I feel very fortunate to be able to pursue my passion for art.....my family, friends, teachers, husband have all helped me pursue my dream and I am forever thankful. I try to stay as humble as possible and just paint, Because that is what I Love!!!!! Painting defines me, I would be lost in this world if not for my love of art .I am constantly challenging myself:whether it be new subject matter,a new use of color, a bold texture, an accidental drip that is left on the canvas; created with purpose. I am always amazed when my once blank canvas unravels to become a work of art!
