About The Artist
Something I’ve always enjoyed is history, and more specifically a tangible history like found objects from antique stores or flea markets which tend to make their way into my compositions as well. I wonder who owned these objects and what meaning did it have to them.
I’ve experimented with many different techniques, from traditional painting to mixed media and have always enjoyed working in oil. Oil painting provides the ability to work in layers and build many translucent to opaque layers in each piece. I strive to be as accurate as possible and build a history of marks throughout each piece. In my work I strive to find that connection found in images of people that have mostly been long forgotten. Building layers and removing any non-essential elements, my work, like the life of these individuals leaves traces behind as I work each piece up.
