Artist Bertrand Girard paints Parisian scenes purely from his imagination. His impressionistic cityscapes give a sense of nostalgia for everyday life in France. "Motivated by nostalgia, I began to paint imaginary people in cafes, restaurants, Parisian atmospheres or entirely imaginary interior scenes," says Bertrand. At the age of 8, Bertrand’s parents sat him with an easel in front of the Palace of Versailles so he could get used to painting around tourists. Since then, painting from life or imagination is a technique he continues to master. He dedicates a lot of his artistic skill to his motivating parents.

Hear What Collectors Say About Bertrand's Work
Thank you. Merci for the beautiful artwork. I love the bistro scene. I wonder if this cafe is in Paris? I would like to visit it someday. Warm regards, Dee Thomas
As a writer I hope to take my readers to a new place, explore a new experience, explain a new perspective. With each of our three Girard paintings (Morning Coffee) we have our breakfast at a stand-up Parisian bar, (Leaving Under the Rain) we watch a friend leaving us to wonder if that was her last visit and now (The Cat on the Roof) we explore the roofs of Paris from the perspective of a curious cat. All are wonderful views.
"The Neighbor" is an inviting and intriguing piece. Wondering where this encounter will lead.
Bertrand, I love "Departure" and many of your pictures where it's rainy outside!
Thank you so much for your beautiful artwork! I love the winter scene and can't wait to visit Luxembourg Garden in the future. I look forward to seeing your new artwork.

great!
You can smell the strong coffee and pastry. Concern and respect for privacy from the server is captured by Girard, who is probably sketching at a table unnoticed...
Girard puts you in the moment feeling the dampness and the loss of a friend
