Artist Anne-François de Sérilly paints scenes of high culture from his home studio overlooking the rooftops in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. His works portray a night at the art deco theater, card games, and the world of fashion with the ambiance of the 1930s. Growing up, Anne-François’s grandfather was a portraitist, and Anne-François himself painted his first portrait at age 10. After majoring in Finance, he stepped off the business path before him and decided to pursue fine art. He cultivated his artistic ideals looking at the great masters of the 17th and 18th centuries, and then spent five years in Brazil where he absorbed the colors and boldness into his style. The artist shares, “I continue to apply myself to the pursuit of an ideal. I sacrificed everything for my work, it's more important to me than anything else.” When he is not in his studio, he spends time with his wife and five children, practices advanced martial arts, and dances tango.

I also paint portraits, having worked until now within a small, enclosed community. My clients include the Duke of Uzes, the Duke of Vendôme and Count Louis de Causans Grimaldi who is right now suing the French government, claiming to be the rightful heir to the throne of Monaco. I paint children, babies and their pets in addition to decorated military officers and statesmen.
