My artwork is influenced by my personal emotional experiences and the frenetic urban life I have always lived in. I am fascinated by urban elements, such as wires, decayed walls, words, colors, lines, graffiti and architectural shapes. I am constantly translating a story I have in mind and creating a dialogue with the images.
I play and manipulate these shapes by layering them within layers of paint, only to scrape off many of these coats to quietly reveal their existence or to give them a recognizable presence.
I often add textural mixed media elements, such as collaged photography or fabrics. Colors, lines and shapes turn into whimsical and playful works of art.
For the series “Quilted” each square is painted as an individual abstract work, having a life for itself but also connect to one another. (Just as it is our presence in life.)
My works have been included in Art Fairs in Miami, San Francisco and Greece and in many group exhibitions around California, such as: MOMA Artist Gallery, Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco and Institute of Contemporary Art in San Jose and in shows in Italy, Dubai, Greece, Poland, Argentina and Serbia. My works are placed in an extensive number of private and public collections around US.
