British photographer Mathew Lodge now lives in San Francisco. His travel photographs regularly appear in national newspapers, magazines, books and websites. Customers include National Geographic, Olive Garden, Frommers' Travel Guides, The Daily Telegraph (London), Times Newspapers (London), Rough Guides, Britain Magazine and the Oxford University Press.
Mathew took his first photograph with a simple Kodak viewfinder camera, developed the Ilford XP5 film and made his first print at the age of 10. Trained in traditional black and white photography and print-making, Mathew worked for a long time with a German viewfinder camera, lenses and a hand-held light meter, which led to a passion for available light photography. At university he was photographic director of the newspaper and nominated for the prestigious London Guardian Media Awards. A career in business took him to San Francisco and enabled him to hone his travel photography skills.
