Mark McKnight Poulsbo, Washington

Mark McKnight is one with the outdoors. From traveling to the Amazon and living with migratory river indians to experiencing the mystique of the Pacific Northwest, Mark loves to capture magnificent moments and extend the memory through the printed form. His ongoing photo series titled Owl People derives from Native American tradition where the owl’s presence holds a sacred place. Fun fact: When Mark’s not capturing still images, he shoots television programs as the Director of Photography. The man simply can not get away from the camera!

    Artist Statement

Capturing the treasures of the Olympic/Cascade mountain ranges with their magnificent trails, rivers and lakes is always a spirit lifter. The wild endlessly offers its timeless forms beneath the greatest show on earth--the sky, to which I never tire of being a witness.

My ongoing photo series titled OWL PEOPLE derives from Native American tradition where the owls' presence holds a sacred place, whether to be wary or embraced. I look forward to adding to this series as the Owl People sojourn in our forests and graciously allow me into their midst.
