Artist Statement
Marie-Eve Champagne is a San Diego-based visual artist whose focus is the creation of engaging and attractive images that explore ideas of space, mannerism and expressiveness. Born in Montreal, she draws inspiration from her French-Canadian roots and Californian surroundings. Interested in both abstract and figurative art, her drawing and painting techniques combine different formal approaches, resulting in a uniquely modern style, intended to trigger an emotional response and elicit visual curiosity. Her subjects can be urban or rural, organic or inanimate, bold or subtle. She aspires to bring art into people’s lives, whether as a source of inspiration and reflection, or a way to keep the “pretty” and the pleasure of looking in one’s existence. The artist holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, specializing in painting and drawing, and a Master’s degree in Museum Studies, with an emphasis on education in the context of contemporary art museums.
